Our first location on the hill above the old charm is the Travnik fortress, which exudes its beauty and represents one of the most beautiful and famous fortifications in this region, the Vizier’s town of Travnik is a place of exceptional beauty and cleanliness, as well as the warmth of the hosts, where every traveler feels welcome.

After the fortress, we go down to the old town, our next location is an architectural wonder and a building like from a fairy tale, which is Šarena Dzamija (Colorful Mosque), one of the most beautiful and unique in this region, we will have the opportunity to walk in the interior and also the courtyard, and our guide will tell you a beautiful story about this cultural treasure of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

When we finish our visit to the colorful mosque, we head towards the spring of Blue Water, one of the most beautiful springs of crystal clear water, where you will enjoy the small waterfalls of this natural wonder, and not far from the spring we went to visit the birthplace of the man who made Travnik famous today. famous and it is the birthplace of Ivo Andrić, one of the most famous Yugoslav writers and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature for the work “The Bridge on the Drina”, and at that location, you will have the opportunity to try traditional Bosnian coffee.

Travnik, in addition to its cultural and historical treasures, is today considered a place where you can eat very tasty Ćevapi, and Travnik cheese is one of the most famous in Bosnia, and of course, you will have the opportunity to try all of this during our visit to this magnificent city in the heart of Bosnia.

Jajce

When we finish visiting Travnik and its many tourist attractions, we head towards our new location. Just one hour’s drive from Travnik, the royal city of Jajce awaits us with its many locations that we plan to visit.

Traditionally, after entering the town of Jajce, our first location to visit is the widely known Jajce Waterfall with beautiful falls and one of the most beautiful waterfalls in this part of Europe, this is a location that will leave you breathless with its beauty.

After our visit to the waterfall in Jajce, we head to our new attraction, which is the AVNOJ museum, the birthplace of communist Yugoslavia, the place where the partisans led by Marshal Tito organized a summit on the future of the new Yugoslavia after the end of World War II, and the new constitution was approved.

When we finish our visit to the museum, we move towards the elevation above the town of Jajce, it is also a beautiful fortress from the era of the Bosnian kingdom, the place where the Bosnian king dined. You will have the opportunity to walk along the walls of the old fortress and feel the spirit of the past and the turbulent history of this region.

A visit to Jajce is really worth your time, and this city exudes its beauty and the cultural treasures of our country. In Jajce, we also stay a little longer because, in addition to all of the above, the famous city towers, the bear tower, the tower of St. Luke, and the Esme Sultania Mosque, we do not take a break because we are immediately heading towards our new location, which is Pliva Lake and Old mills, which will also leave you breathless.

Pliva Lake and Old Mills with lunch

Not far from the Jajce, after a 20-minute drive, we are heading towards our new location, which is the two beautiful Pliva Lakes. Before reaching the main beach, we will first stop at the beautiful “Mlinčići” mills, which are another tourist attraction that we must not miss. 4 centuries old still resist time and are witnesses of the very interesting history of these areas, during the Austro-Hungarian rule in these areas, the mills were a tourist symbol of Bosnia, where the photo of this miracle was also on the postage stamps of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

After our visit to Mlinčići, we head towards the large Pliva Lake, a tourist attraction that is widely known and visited by people from all over Europe who want to enjoy untouched nature. The lake is also popular among the local population, so we will see a large number of private apartments.

After arriving at the lake and taking a leisurely walk along the coast, we head to the restaurant where we will organize lunch, the food offer is wide, and of course, we also have an offer for our vegetarians.
After lunch, with a full stomach, we continue our journey from Sarajevo to Zagreb, but there is one more location on our way that we will visit, which is the Jasenovac concentration camp.

Concentration Camp Jasenovac (WW2)

After Pliva Lakes and the city of Jajce, we head towards Zagreb on our way, the last location on this tour that we will visit is the Jasenovac Concentration Camp, also known as the Balkan Auschwitz, this infamous extermination camp was founded by the independent state of Croatia and the Ustasha who ruled this region during the WWII with their leader Anto Pavelić who was a close ally of Nazi Germany and Adolf Hitler.

This camp was a place of detention and forced labor for Serbs, Jews, and all other peoples who were against the fascist ideology that ruled during WWII.

This terrible place is a reminder of what can happen if hatred, and racial and ethnic intolerance reign, and today it is a symbol of remembering all the victims of WWII.

Considering our very large content and the multitude of locations we have to visit, we note that very often we are not able to enter the museum of the Jasenovac Concentration Camp, the reason being that the opening hours are until 4 pm, but the open part of the museum is available to us as well as the main monument that we will visit which is more than enough.

After the visit to the Jasenovac Concentration Camp, we finally start our journey to Zagreb, and in an hour and 30 minutes, we arrive in Zagreb with the conviction that we really enjoyed this wonderful tour, because it was really worth it.
